WINSTON-SALEM Anna Lee White Gaither, 75, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, after a long illness, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Hickory, March 9, 1944, she was the eldest daughter of Edward Lee White and Anne Edens White (both deceased) and is survived by her sisters, Libby White Swad (Sam), Hedi White Lee-Hesse (Kevin); daughter, LeAnn Gaither Kowalyk (K.C.); grandson, James Davis Kowalyk; nieces, Heather Murphy Woolwine (David), Brenna Katherine Murphy (Drew Haxby), Anna Marie Swad Paray (Adam); three great-nephews; one great niece; her dog Winston and cats, L.C. and Bossman. Anna graduated from Hickory High School in 1962 and from Wake Forest University in 1966. She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, wife, and friend, known for her fundamental kindness, deep love of furry creatures, generosity and compassion. She shared herself with the world as a junior high school teacher, a cheerleading coach, and by creating memorable events as a professional hotel event manger and sales expert for several national hotel chains. She loved just about anything that involved the beach or the sun, spending time with her family or friends, a great book, a good sale or getting a chance to dress up and celebrate life with those around her. Always "the good one," Anna lives on in the hearts and memories of those who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anna's memory to The Forgotten Felines of Forsyth, a non-profit organization with the mission of humanely reducing the cat population in Forsyth County. Donations may sent to P.O. Box 11363, Winston-Salem, NC 27116, or made online at www.forgottenfelinesofforsyth.org.
