HICKORY – The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series returned to Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday night for Bojangles Church Night presented by 84 Lumber, according to a press release.

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Bojangles Late Models

The first of two 40-lap features opened up the evening, according to the release. Mason Diaz (24) set the fast time for the start, but Charlie Watson (9) captured the lead on lap 10.

Watson held on for the victory, with Diaz grabbing second, Cole Glasson (5) snagging third, Ryan Millington (76) finishing fourth and Annabeth Barnes-Crum (4) rounding out the top five.


Curtis Pardue (17) captured the pole position for the 25-lap showcase, according to the release.

Allison Houston (28) recorded the victory in her first Hickory Motor Speedway start, with Cody Combs (9) finishing second, Brian Mundy (6) third, Pardue fourth and Robert Trivette (11) fifth.

Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Models

Mitch Walker (29) led the field off from the starting line in the 35-lap feature, according to the release.

Jeremy Pelfrey (51) and Monty Cox (21) battled Walker throughout the race, but ultimately Walker prevailed and secured the checkered flag.

Pelfrey finished second, Cox took third, Pat Rachels (34) finished fourth and Alex Reece (18) took home fifth.

Cosmo Motors Street Stocks

For the 30-lap feature, Cody DeMarmels (18) paced the field past the green flag to open up the race, according to the release.

Mark Whitten (77) stayed close to DeMarmels’ bumper all race until making a move late in the race to capture the win. DeMarmels finished second, while Marshall Sutton (64) took third, Kevin Eby (3) finished fourth and Trey Buff (69) rounded out the top five.

Catawba Realty and Insurance Classic Sportsmen Racing

Greg Butcher (0) led the pack off the starting line in the 25-lap feature, according to the release. Butcher was pressured throughout by Eddie Gilbert (1), but ultimately captured the checkered flag.

Butcher secured the top spot with Gilbert taking second, Chris Werner (22) taking third, Bill Webb (16) in fourth and Bill Lett (4) settling in at fifth.

Late Models, second race

The second 40-lap feature rounded out the evening with Andrew Grady (1) starting first with inversion from finishing results, according to the release.

Contact sent Annabeth Barnes-Crum (4) spinning, and the subsequent caution bunched the field with only one lap down, according to the release.

Charlie Watson (9) took the lead after already secured the first of the twin 40-lap features, going on to win and sweeping the Late Models pair.

Watson took the top spot, with Cole Glasson (5) taking second, Mason Diaz (24) edging Ryan Millington (76) for third by .010 seconds, and Omar Jurado (15) finishing fifth.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will return to action Saturday with Sam's Club Night at Hickory Motor Speedway, according to the release.

The Late Models will battle for 100 laps and will include Round 8 of the Paramount Kia 'Big 10' Chase for the Championship with 50 laps for the Paramount Auto Group Limited Models, 35 laps for the One Design Super Trucks, 30 laps for the Cosmo Motors Street Stocks, 25 laps for the 4-Cylinders, and 20 laps for the Renegades.
