A Claremont man wanted by police was nabbed in a parking lot in Newton on May 16, according to a Catawba County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Joshua Lee Beatty, 29, was wanted for failing to appear on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and probation violation.
When investigators approached Beatty fled on foot. He was apprehended and arrested after a short pursuit. A convicted felon, he was found to be in possession of a firearm, according to the release.
Beatty was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting a public officer and served with outstanding warrants. He was issued an $85,000 secured bond and will have a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on June 8.
