A Taylorsville man is still in critical condition after he endured multiple stab wounds to his chest Wednesday afternoon, according to Capt. J. Moore of Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.
Police responded to a neighborhood off Wood Road around 4:45 p.m. and found a 39-year-old man suffering from several stab wounds to his chest. Witnesses said the man’s 14-year-old neighbor, who is suspected of stabbing the man, ran from the scene before the officers arrived, according to Sheriff Chris Bowman.
Officers from the sheriff’s office, Taylorsville Police Department, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Probation and Parole and North Carolina Department of Public Safety established a perimeter on Wood Road, Three Forks Church Road and N.C. Highway 90 west to search for the teenage girl. NCDPS K-9 units assisted in the search, which lasted over an hour.
The girl was taken into custody just before 6:30 p.m. in an area off N.C. Highway 90 west.
Bowman said her motive is unclear.
“And hopefully we’ll find that out. We’re just still in the very beginnings of the investigation,” Bowman said Wednesday evening.
As the teenager was loaded into the patrol car, she claimed to have multiple personalities. “That’s what she has said, and beyond that, we don’t know anything else,” Bowman said.
The sheriff’s office is investigating with assistance from Juvenile Court counselors from the North Carolina’s Juvenile Justice Department. No charges have been filed, Bowman said.
