The top of Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman's head is visible in the door of a sheriff's office vehicle as he talks to the teen arrested in connection with a stabbing in Taylorsville Wednesday evening.

The teen girl accused of stabbing her neighbor in Taylorsville has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, according to an Alexander County Sheriff’s Office press release.

On Wednesday, police responded to Wood Road in Taylorsville and found a 39-year-old man with several stab wounds to the chest.  The man's name is Donald McKinney, WSOC reported.

The 14-year-old suspect left the scene before police arrived and led police on a hunt for over an hour. She was found just off N.C. Highway 90 West Wednesday night.

Juvenile Court counselors charged the teen Thursday, according to the Friday press release. The Sheriff’s Office has not released a motive.

The victim, who was airlifted by helicopter from the scene to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, is recovering from life-threatening injuries, Sheriff Chris Bowman said Friday afternoon.
