An Alexander County man faces drug charges after a search of his home last week.

On Thursday at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, along with Iredell County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Billy Jay Blankenship on Linker Lane in the Stony Point community. Upon the execution of the search warrant, officers seized one gram of methamphetamine, 5 ounces of marijuana, $500 cash, and various drug paraphernalia.

Blankenship, 57, was arrested and charged with felony possession of controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Blankenship was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $10,000 secured bond. Blankenship was to make a first appearance Monday in Alexander County District Court.
