Gideon – the 900-pound horse that was stuck in a pond at Rising Hope Farms in Claremont – has been rescued.

A truck equipped with a crane system from Skeet’s Wrecker Service pulled the horse straight up out of the water with help from Claremont Fire Department, Claremont Rescue Squad, St. Stephens Fire Department and Henry River Mobile Veterinary Services.

Rescue personnel were worried that Gideon could have broken rear legs, which were stuck in the mud beneath the water. Other than some cuts, Gideon was uninjured throughout the rescue.
