The Hickory-based attorney charged with child sex crimes in Asheville is scheduled to appear in Buncombe County court on Friday.

Dan Green, 64, was arrested in March when police responded to a report of sexual assault on a juvenile at Baymont Inn in Asheville, which is near Biltmore Village.

Green is charged with one felony count of first-degree statutory sex offense with a child under 15 and one misdemeanor count each of giving fortified spirits to a person under 21, contributing to delinquency of a juvenile and disseminating obscene material to a minor.

Previous Hickory Daily Record reports indicate Green and the victim know each other but it is unclear how.

As of last week, the Hickory Police Department and the Catawba County Sheriff's Office indicated they did not receive any reports from victims in the area.

The attorney hosted foreign exchange students through AFS Intercultural Programs from 1991 until he was suspended this year. AFS said in an April statement that Green did not engage inappropriately with any of the students.
