HICKORY — A promotional ceremony for one Hickory firefighter was recently held at Hickory Fire Station One.
Jamie Hinson has been promoted to Fire Apparatus Operator. Hinson was hired in 2013 and has 13 years of experience as a firefighter.
He holds certifications through the NC Fire & Rescue Commission as a Level 2 Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Operations, Driver-Operator Pumps and Aerial, level II Fire Service Instructor, and as a Technical Rescuer with specialties in Vehicle-Machinery Rescue, Ropes, Confined Space, Structure Collapse, Trench and Agricultural Rescue.
Hinson is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician through the state and has completed specialized training in advanced high angle rescue. He has also completed the Rescue 3 International training in the areas of Swift Water Rescue Technician Level and Swift Water Boat Operator.
Hinson is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Fire and Rescue Management Institute. He is a third-generation firefighter and also serves as a fire captain with Conover Fire Department in his spare time.
