A Conover man has been charged for stealing from nine cars in Bethlehem, according to a release from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.
Ian Howell Mauck, 37, is charged with nine counts each of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny after breaking and entering a motor vehicle. He also faces four counts of felony probation violation in Catawba County.
Mauck was issued a $220,000 secured bond. He also faces charges in several other jurisdictions, according to the release.
The charges stem from thefts from about nine vehicles that happened in Bethlehem late Sunday and early Monday, according to the release.
Most of the cars were unlocked and the stolen items could be seen inside the vehicle, according to the release.
Alexander County Sheriff’s Office detectives, Hickory Police officers and Department of Public Safety officers arrested Mauck on Catawba Boulevard in Hickory on Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing and there may be additional charges.
