Electric service to some City of Newton customers will be interrupted from 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, until 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, according to a press release from the city.

As a public power provider, the city says they need to make important infrastructure improvements that require a scheduled interruption in service in order to continue to provide electricity with fewer outages and faster restoration times.

Newton will be making improvements at its electric delivery station on N.C. 10 near the Heritage Trail Greenway trailhead. These improvements will make it possible for Newton to provide better service in the future and to restore service more quickly when interruptions occur, the release states.

A map indicating the area that will be affected is available at www.newtonnc.gov/map.pdf.
