A Catawba man has received a drug charge after a Monday traffic stop.
John Harrison Ollis, 41, of Catawba, was charged with felony trafficking opium/heroin, according to a release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
The charge against Ollis came after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry on Main Street in Valdese, the release said. Ollis, who was driving the car, did not have an active driver’s license and was on parole.
After further investigation, a trafficking amount of opium and drug paraphernalia were seized from the vehicle.
Ollis’ bond was set a $3,000 secured. He had his first court appearance Wednesday, the release said.
