The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man charged with an armed invasion of a home on 37th Street Drive NE Thursday morning.

Brian Maynor, 37, is charged with felony breaking or entering and attempted common law robbery, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

As of 4:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Maynor was still at large.

Maynor is one of two men charged in the home invasion.

The other man — Barry MacMahan — is also charged with breaking or entering and attempted common law robbery.

MacMahan, 20, was shot by resident Freeman Haney during the home invasion and fled to Frye Regional Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds.

MacMahan was later confirmed to be a suspect in the case and charged.

In an interview with WSOC-TV’s Dave Faherty Thursday morning, Haney described the home invasion.

He said he woke up to see two men in his bedroom. One of the men was carrying a gun while the other grabbed Haney’s shotgun, Haney said.

Haney said he grabbed another one of his guns and fired at the intruders.

“What was going through my mind was I hope this man don’t kill me with my own gun,” Haney said. “You can’t really think. You don’t have time to think.”

Anyone with information on the case should call the sheriff’s office at 828-464-3112.
