The Western Piedmont Symphony will hold its free summer concert Summer Pops on July 20 at 6 p.m. on the SALT Block’s North Lawn.

Matthew Troy, the symphony’s recently-hired maestro, will lead the symphony in performances of patriotic marches, show tunes, themes from television shows and movies and a tribute to the military.

The event will also include a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

Food trucks will be present for the event and attendees are invited to bring friends and family and set up lawn chairs.

The event will be held in the SALT Block’s Drendel Auditorium in the event there is a bad weather. The concert is supported by the city of Hickory.
