A Troutman woman died Monday night when the scooter she was riding struck a sport utility vehicle on Charlotte Highway, between Mooresville and Troutman.
Wendy K. Hoffman, 51, of Autumn Leaf Road, Troutman, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 8:45 p.m.
Trooper L.C. Crouse of the N.C. Highway Patrol said Hoffman was riding a scooter, traveling north on U.S. 21/N.C. 115 near the southern entrance of Flower House Loop. The scooter crossed the center line, traveling into the southbound lane and hit a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.
The Tahoe was driven by a Mt. Ulla woman.
Crouse said no charges will be filed in the crash.
The wreck closed a section of Charlotte Highway for about 90 minutes Monday night.
