NEWTON, N.C. – The death of a Newton-Conover City Schools educator is being investigated as a homicide, Newton Police Chief Donald Brown said Monday afternoon.

Margaret “Maggie” Daniels, 31, was found dead Saturday morning in her apartment on West 17th Street in Newton. Police announced late Monday afternoon the investigation’s status was changed from an unattended death to a homicide investigation after receiving the autopsy results, Brown said.
