BLOWING ROCK, N.C. (AP) — One of the main roads into the town of Blowing Rock has reopened to traffic following an early morning rock slide.

The N.C. Department of Transportation issued an alert Wednesday that U.S. 321 was closed at the Cliff Dwellers Inn. Authorities said the slide was relatively small and that crews were able to clear the roadway within a couple hours. The road reopened about 10:15 a.m.

The area is experiencing high winds and snow. Motorists are being urged to use caution.
