HICKORY, N.C. — A ribbon cutting was held July 12 to officially open The Brigadiers Charles and Evelyn Sams Mens Transitional Housing.

The transitional housing building is located on The Salvation Army campus on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard. The event was attended by Salvation Army officials, advisory board members, members of the Charles and Evelyn Sams family, Hickory Mayor Rudy Wright, representatives from The Unifour Foundation and the Catawba Valley Association of Realtors, The Catawba Valley Quilters Guild and volunteers who worked on the housing facility. Those organizations and individuals all helped make the housing facility possible by donating money and time.
