LINCOLNTON N.C. – Lincoln County investigators, detectives and deputies spent Wednesday looking for 40 people wanted for more than 150 felony drug crimes.

In Operation Top 40, teams of officers were assigned a list of suspects identified in indictments handed down by the Lincoln County Grand Jury. The indictments were obtained following a six-month undercover campaign targeting street-level drug dealers. The deputies spread out across Lincoln and surrounding counties after a 5:30 a.m. briefing at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center
