Seeking to strike while the lanes are hot, Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse of Mooresville is teaming with Mooresville’s George Pappas’ Victory Lanes to help raise money several ways for the Mooresville Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The first fundraising event will be “Bowl for MDA” on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Anybody who visits the lanes to bowl during that time will be able to take advantage of the MDA Bowling package, which includes three games of bowling and rental of bowling shoes for $10. Victory Lanes will donate half the proceeds from every package sold to Mooresville MDA.

In addition to the Bowl for MDA Day, Victory Lanes’ Finish Line Restaurant has created a special MDA/Lowe’s of Mooresville Express Menu containing 10 different menu choices for just $6.95 each.

Victory Lanes will donate $1 every time anyone orders a meal from the specially-prepared MDA/Lowe’s menu for the remainder of 2013.

Finally, MDA/Lowe’s Mooresville will benefit as the designated charity of the George Pappas’ Victory Lanes Pepsi Professional Bowlers Association 50 Tournament to be held May 5-8.

This national sporting event attracts 160 of the top professional senior circuit bowlers in the country, including such well-known competitors as Pete Weber and Walter Ray Williams Jr.

Victory Lanes will donate 100% of the tournament’s gate receipts to the Mooresville MDA.

All the funds raised for the MDA through Lowe’s of Mooresville stays within the Mooresville community. Last year, Lowe’s of Mooresville raised over $15,000. This year, the goal is $20,000.

Lowe’s of Mooresville wants to send at least 25 kids to the MDA summer camp, at a cost of $800 for one week.

As of earlier this month, Lowe’s of Mooresville has raised $8,571. The fund raising campaign ends March 31.
